Each entry should include the bibliographic information and a short paragraph (annotation) about your source.

Click HERE for the Perdue Owl writing site that explains annotated bibliographies.

For our purposes you will want to summarize your article, reflect on how it can be used for your essay, and  possibly comment on the stance of the author/source (is this source biased, and if so how or why).

Your list of resources for your bibliography should be in alphabetical order by author.  Full details on how to write an APA citation for various sources can also be found on the Perdue Owl site HERE.

Below is a sample APA annotation:

Journal article citation example with evaluative annotation (APA)

Gottlieb, P. D. (1995). The "golden egg" as a natural resource: Toward a normative theory of growth management. Society and Natural Resources, 8, (5): 49-56.
This article explains the dilemma faced by North American suburbs, which demand both preservation of local amenities (to protect quality of life) and physical development (to expand the tax base). Growth management has been proposed as a policy solution to this dilemma. An analogy is made between this approach and resource economics. The author concludes that the growth management debate raises legitimate issues of sustainability and efficiency.

Example:
Last month I attended the World Cup J24 Sailboat Race in Rochester.  Teams from all over the world competed in this event.  When I arrived there, a group of French Canadians were camping on the lawn of the yacht club.  They were playing music and drinking scotch when I introduced myself.  They offered to give me a tour of the facilities, and I accepted.  While we were touring, people were checking in for the race.  Officials were measuring and weighing the boats, and the sailors were busily making adjustments on their boats to meet the strict requirements of the competition.  When we finished our tour and were returning to the campsite, the head judge of the contest stopped and introduced himself.  He was walking with us back to our campsite when he was called away by an urgent cell phone call, so we never really talked with him.   Later that night, while the music was playing and we were dancing, I decided that I needed sleep, so I went to sleep in my cozy tent.

Remember:
Please word process your work if possible.
Double space your writing so there is room for my notes to you.
Use the editing checklist on page 43.
